Sewing 101

The perfect launch pad for novices. Learn how to use your sewing machine and even make your first project in this fast-paced, fun two-day class. Day One: Get started with a complete tour of the machine, how to thread it, as well as sewing your first stitches. Learn about the tools required for a basic sewing kit as well as get an overview of materials. Get help choosing your project fabric. Day Two: Take your new knowledge and make a great market or tote bag, in your own fabric, in your own style, to use over and over again. Leave class not only braver, but with something snappy as proof of your budding skills.

2 Day Fit Class

If these are words you aspire to-nay, yearn for-this intensive, 2-day workshop will teach you the sorcery and the science of fitting a classic blouse pattern to your unique body. Kirsten Wolff and Sandy Larson-both Palmer/Pletsch Certified Fit instructors-take you through the step-by-step ?tissue fitting? process of customizing fashion patterns to all shapes and sizes. (Yes, including yours Dear Reader...despite what you think.) After altering the pattern on the 1st day, on the 2nd day you?ll move on to cutting and pin-fitting your chosen fabric precisely. Then, when you finish the workshop, you'll take your ready-to-sew blouse home to construct with confidence. It's only fitting that you'll enjoy this class enormously.

Oh Say Can You See Runner

This table runner is the perfect choice for the summer holidays. Construction is simple ? there are no inset seams. But since the design is created with a combination of triangles, trapezoids and half-triangles, it is a great way to learn how to use the ruler. The star field on opposite corners makes the finished project read ?right side up? on either side of the table

Zippers 101

Ah yes, the zipper. So easy to use, yet so scary to many. Come banish your fears (or frustrations) with a user-friendly class on the most common types of zippers and zipper insertions. We'll go through the steps of the top three zipper insertion techniques?the centered zipper, the invisible or concealed zipper, and a mock fly. And then, of course, we?ll actually sew them. Leave not only with a firm understanding of this classic trio, but with the necessary skills and confidence to happily take on all variants. Go from beware?zippers, to ?zippers beware!?

Checkmate Paper Piecing Quilt

Learn how to foundation paper piece with large pattern pieces, only six per flower petal. Checkmate by On Williams Street is a fun pattern to start your journey in foundation paper piecing. The finished quilt is approximately 60? x 90?. An exciting new world in quilt making awaits!

Serger 201: Raglan Knit Top

Okay, you've taken Serger 101 and Serger 102. Now what? This classic raglan sleeve top. A great first garment to make with a serger. Beginner Quilt

Cost: $150.00

This Beginning Quilting class will teach you the essentials of making a quilt. You will learn best practices in cutting, piecing, pressing, and assembling your quilt. You will learn the vocabulary of quilting and become a block detective. You will create at least twelve 12" finished blocks containing the component pieces of both traditional and modern blocks. You will be ready to assemble these blocks into a 48" x 61" sampler quilt with sashing, cornerstones, and a border.

Serger 101

Cost: $75.00

Have a brand new serger? Or, maybe had one for a while but haven?t used it yet, because, well... they?re complicated...right? Overcome any confusions or hesitations with our clear, friendly introduction to your very own machine. Just bring it in?and get going using it! Learn what all the parts are, what they do; about the tools and accessories that came with it. Even walk through the manual alongside the machine and discover how to thread your specific serger correctly, even comfortably. Finally, start to sew, and begin learning to adjust the tensions. Come with serger. Leave with confidence.

In the second class of the serger series, we move past our introduction to the machine and dive into the fundamental serger skills everyone should know, and know well. In this quick-paced introduction, we cover allimportant basics?how stitch length and width change your seams; how to secure ends; and of course, thread tension. We even cover flatlocking for seams that look like ready-to-wear, as well as how to do rolled hems for fine fabrics and gorgeous table linens. Whether you?re a beginner or an expert, this is the class for learning?or polishing?those superessential, atomic serger skills. Come and get ?em!

Kids/Teens Quilt Camp

Come join us and learn how to make a quilt. Everyone will create a beautiful quilt out of 3 yards of fabric from Fast & Fun 3-yard Quilts by Donna Robertson. Learn with friends and make new friends. We will cover use of tools: rotary cutter, pins, rulers, thread, patterns and much more. Whether you have experience with sewing or no experience you will have the opportunity to learn techniques or expand on what you already know. This class is open to ages 9-18, all genders included.
