Pati Palmer and Marta Alto, co-authors of The Palmer/Pletsch Complete Guide to Fitting, will show you
how to buy the right size pattern and explain tissue-fitting, a method they began developing during the
and have perfected with hands-on teaching and training of teachers and consumers from around the world.
Marta will show how to measure on Pati.
Then Marta will show what can get in the way of accuracy when measuring for size by trying on bodice
muslins: a bodice based on her full bust measurement; one made from the size she uses unaltered, then
that size altered. Pati will explain tissue-fitting and preparing the pattern showing a prepared unaltered
pattern. She will also talk about the need to also pin-fit fabric by trying on a sample pinned jacket.
Marta will try on a tissue that has been altered for her. Pati will tell you what the unaltered tissue told
her while walking you through the correct fitting order.
