Alaska Quilt

“Alaska” is a traditional pieced kaleidoscope pattern by Laundry Basket Quilts. Originally published in 2018, it called for templates for cutting out the diamonds, half-diamonds, wedges, and triangles. Creative Grids has recently produced the Alaska ruler to make the cutting of the fabric easier. Your teacher has “translated” the cutting directions from the template cutting directions in the pattern to enable use of the Creative Grids ruler.

You can make this quilt the size you prefer: The pattern as pictured above and in the pattern is 71 ½” X 71 ½”. Border designs and fabric information will be provided to enlarge the quilt to 90” X 90”. Other options may be available with advance notice to the teacher. You will learn precision pinning, piecing, and pressing along with chain piecing, resulting in a quilt you will be very proud of. You will learn to piece the three different types of kaleidoscope blocks during two days of instruction. You will learn how to piece the quilt top together and will receive quilting ideas.
